We were simply devastated this week to hear of the loss of Madeline Spohr, the spunky, spirited, and beautiful daughter of a blogging friend of ours, Heather Spohr. Even in pictures, Maddie’s personality plus shone through. We were captivated by her. There are no words to express the emotions, the tears we shed are falling into a communal sea of sadness, as Maddie’s story, and that of her parents, Mike and Heather, have touched so many. Maddie was a March of Dimes child, born premature, and helping to raise funds to help others like her.

We’d like to show the Spohr family, in some small way, that our thoughts are with them. They have requested that attendees and to Maddie’s celebration of life service next Tuesday wear purple, and though we cannot attend, we will be wearing purple that day as well. We’re also doing something else. Now through the 17th of April, with the coupon code WECARE we’re donating 100% of the proceeds of all Honolulu Lulu Francie Pants (the only ones with purple in them) to the Spohr family, to cover their expenses and do with as they wish. 15% of all other sales made using this coupon code will also go to support the Spohr family.

The March of Dimes was one of our selected charities for 2009, and we cannot think of a better time to make a contribution, than now, in memory of the brief but very touching life of Madeline Spohr.
